Client: Panama City Airport Authority Engineer: Carlan-Killam Project Cost: $2 Million Landscape Cost: $60,000 Lisenby Avenue is the main route to and from the Panama City International Airport. The challenges of this project were to work within a narrow right of way and provide attractive median and roadside plantings. The landscape uses Cabbage Palms, the Florida state tree to invoke an image of Florida that visitors expect. The landscape transitions to native plants along a stream that crosses under the road. Plants such as American Beautyberry, Sweetspire and Fringetree blend into the native environment. In addition to having showy flowers, these native plants serve as food for local wildlife.
