Ft. Walton Library - Ft. Walton, FL

Project: FT. WALTON LIBRARY

Client: City of Ft. Walton

Architect: Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe

Project Cost: $2.2 Million

Landscape Cost: $100,000

The Ft. Walton Library was another opportunity to do site design and construction detailing.  In addition to the landscape and irrigation design, we were given the chance to design and detail the paving and seat walls.

The pre-cast concrete paver fields reflect colors from the architecture onto the ground plane.  The brick seatwalls are designed to be a comfortable height and depth.

The landscape uses a large palette of native plants and provides quiet pockets for reading areas.  Wetland plants like Bald Cypress, Sand Cordgrass and Smooth Cordgrass are planted in the detention pond to stabilize the slopes and reduce maintenance.

The irrigation system uses mostly drip components and re-use water for a very water efficient system.
